About me
Dewey Gottlieb loves to help people love math. Currently, he is an Educational Specialist in the Office of Strategy, Innovation and Performance (OSIP), leading the Mathematics Innovation initiative. Dewey previously served as a high school mathematics teacher for 14 years, a district-level mathematics resource teacher (4 years), the Department's Educational Specialist for Mathematics (10 years) and the NAEP State Coordinator (6 years). He has served in a variety of leadership roles in local and national mathematics professional organizations (NCTM, HCTM and ASSM), and was the recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and the Milken Educator Award. Dewey was Hawaii's first teacher to achieve National Board Certification in secondary mathematics, and he is owned by two exceptionally cute Tibetan Spaniels.
