About me
Olga Kalashnikova is a preschool teacher at Naalehu Elementary School, where she brings learning to life through hands-on activities that spark creativity and curiosity in her students. With a background in social sciences and performing arts from the University of California, Berkeley, she combines her passion for human connection and the arts with her work in education, helping students learn through independent work, peer collaboration, and teamwork. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology with a focus on School Counseling & Mental Health at Chaminade University of Honolulu, Olga believes in integrating social-emotional learning (SEL) and STEM to support the whole child. She shares this approach with fellow educators as a co-presenter of "Tinkering with Purpose: Building SEL Skills through STEM Integration." After 12 years in Honolulu, she is now in her third year in Naalehu. When not teaching or studying, Olga enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children, Veronica (5) and Timothy (2), soaking up the sun and sand at Kua Bay.
