Aloha mai, ʻo Kini Kaawa koʻu inoa. He kama na ke ahupuaʻa ʻo Kailua, Koʻolaupoko, Oʻahu. He pukana na ke Kula Kaiapuni ʻo Ānuenue a me Ka Hakaʻula ʻo Keʻelikōlani. He kumu Hawaiʻi e aʻo ana i ka papa ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, papa hula, a me ka papa hana noʻeau Hawaiʻi ma ke Kula Kiʻekiʻe a Waena ʻo Pāhoa. He alakaʻi na ka Hui Hawaiʻi ʻo Moaniani Lehua a he kaʻi na ke kime hoe waʻa ʻo Pāhoa.
Kini Kaawa is a native of Kailua Ahupuaʻa. Sheʻs a graduate of Kula Kaiapuni ʻo Ānuenue and the Hawaiian College at UH Hilo, Ka Hakaʻula ʻo Keʻelikōlani with a BA in Hawaiian Studies, a teachers certificate from Kahuawaiola, and a MA in Language and Cultural Indigenous Education. She is a Hawaiian educator of 20+ years and is currently teaching Hawaiian language, dance, and arts and crafts of Hawaiʻi at Pāhoa High and Intermediate School. She is the advisor of the Hawaiian Club Moaniani Lehua and the head coach of Pāhoa HS canoe paddling team.
