E komo mai!

Welcome to the 2025 Kaʻū-Keaʻau-Pāhoa Complex Area Summit! We are thrilled to host the 8th Annual KKP CA Summit at Keaʻau High School Campus, where we’ll come together to inspire, learn, and grow as a collective body.

This year, we are honored to announce our keynote speaker, Nainoa Thompson, Master Navigator and President of the Polynesian Voyaging Society. Nainoa is a true embodiment of achieving excellence with intention, leading the way for the Hōkūleʻa crew as they prepare for the transformative Moananuiākea Voyage—a bold, four-year circumnavigation of the Pacific.

In addition to Nainoa’s powerful address, we’re excited to offer a variety of breakout sessions featuring dynamic speakers and topics from national, state, and local community agencies, as well as our own Complex Area and school educators. Together, we’ll explore innovative ideas and actionable strategies to support our students, schools, and communities.
Let’s make this summit a time of connection, growth, and shared purpose as we continue to thrive together. Mohala I ka wai ka maka o ka pua - Flowers thrive where there is water, as thriving people are found where living conditions are good. #KKPCA_Thrives

Using Mathspace Check-ins as an Alternative Universal Screener for Lei Kulia (Gr.6 -12)
Friday January 31, 2025 1:00pm - 2:00pm HST
Looking for a more flexible, data-driven way to monitor student progress, identify learning gaps to inform classroom instruction, and report to LEI Kulia? This workshop will introduce how Mathspace Check-ins can serve as an effective alternative to traditional universal screeners. Mathspace Check-ins provide quick, low-stakes assessments aligned with grade-level standards, offering real-time insights into student understanding without interrupting instructional flow.

Secondary School participants will learn how to leverage these assessments to identify trends, pinpoint skill gaps, and measure growth over time. We’ll cover practical strategies for setting up regular Check-ins, interpreting data dashboards, and using the results to inform differentiated instruction and targeted interventions. Attendees will also explore how these tools align with MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) frameworks, ensuring every student receives the right level of support at the right time.

**Takeaways:**
- How to implement Mathspace Check-ins as a universal screener for quick insights.
- Strategies for using Check-in data to drive individualized and small-group instruction.
- Best practices for monitoring growth across multiple checkpoints throughout the year.
- Ways to incorporate Mathspace data into MTSS and RTI (Response to Intervention) processes.

This hands-on workshop is ideal for educators, instructional coaches, and school leaders looking to streamline progress monitoring while keeping students engaged in grade-level content.
